The Legacy
Kart-O-Rama began in 1959 with Jack Lehmann, who for years built kart engines and supplied parts from his home before opening a full-time store in Tacoma in 1993. Jack's reputation reached well beyond the Northwest. He served as Race Director and Tech Director at IKF National events for decades, was IKF President in 2006, and built championship-winning engines for racers across the country. His knowledge of engine building, chassis setup, and tuning shaped the way Kart-O-Rama has always done business: help the racer get the most out of their equipment.
In December 2002, Roger Semro bought the business. With Jack at his side, Roger grew Kart-O-Rama beyond its Tacoma storefront and in 2004 moved it to a larger facility in Sumner.
For more than twenty years, Roger was a fixture in Northwest paddocks, traveling to dozens of race weekends each year with a trailer full of parts and a willingness to help anyone who needed it. Racers came to know that if Roger didn't have it, he'd find it.
A New Chapter
In 2026, Kart-O-Rama joined the Ascent Competition family. Ascent has been supporting Northwest racers with parts, service, and trackside support, and bringing Kart-O-Rama home to the track felt like a natural fit.
We're honored to carry this name forward. Our goal is simple: keep doing what Roger and Jack built this business on.
